Private Half-Day Okinawa Wellness Retreat in Ōgimi

Step Into Ōgimi — Where Cooking Meets Wellness and Every Moment Heals

✨What Sets My Retreat Apart From Others✨

✔ This isn’t a destination for me — it’s home

I don’t travel to Ōgimi for my retreats—I live here with my husband Harrison, two rescue cats, and one rescue puppy. What I share with you is part of my everyday life, and hosting this retreat is my ikigai.

✔ Deeply trained, culturally grounded care

I’m a bilingual, certified Gut Health Coach and a Japanese medicinal cooking specialist with training in Japanese fermented foods. I also hold an Okinawan Food & Safety Manager certificate and have completed an 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) course, allowing me to guide you with both knowledge and care.

✔ A bridge between cultures and ways of living

Originally from Tochigi Prefecture in mainland Japan, and having lived in Canada and England, I bring a unique perspective on health and food culture. My retreats gently blend elements of Western wellness, mainland Japanese traditions, and Okinawan wisdom, creating an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

  • This retreat is not suitable for individuals with rice, gluten (coeliac), soy, almond, or nut allergies.

If you have any food allergies or sensitivities not listed above, please participate at your own discretion. While we do our best to maintain a clean cooking environment, the facility is not equipped for strict allergen separation or cross-contamination prevention (e.g., separate utensils or cookware).

  • Unfortunately, we’re not able to arrange that.
We understand that many visitors come to Ōgimi, known as the “longevity village,” hoping to meet centenarians and hear their stories. However, from our experience, some elders have shared that they feel tired of being asked the same questions—like “What’s your secret to longevity?”—repeatedly.

We deeply respect their wish for a peaceful life. In fact, the local tourism association mentioned that in the past, some elders who hosted visitors experienced a decline in health afterward, as talking with strangers can take a lot of energy.

That said, we’re always happy to share their culture, stories, and the wisdom behind their longevity on their behalf through our wellness experiences. 🌿

  • Because we host only one retreat or walking tour per day and prepare everything specifically for your visit, all bookings are non-refundable. Your reservation blocks the entire day exclusively for your group, and preparation of ingredients, materials, and scheduling begins immediately after booking.

For this reason, we offer Future Credit in place of refunds, except in the case of organizer-initiated cancellations.

    • ✅ If you notify us at least 7 days in advance that you are unable to attend, we will issue a Future Credit valid for one year.

    • ✅ In the case of guest illness, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance, and we will offer a Future Credit.

    • ✅ Future Credit is transferable and may be passed on to friends, family members, or resold (including via Facebook groups).
If you transfer your spot, please contact us in advance and provide the full name and contact details of the person attending.

    • ❌ Same-day cancellations, no-shows, late arrivals, or delays caused by personal circumstances are not eligible for Future Credit.

      Organizer-Initiated Cancellations

    • If we must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances on our end (such as our own emergency or illness), guests will receive a full refund of the tour/retreat fee or may choose to reschedule to another available date.

    • Please note that we are not responsible for transportation, accommodation, or other related costs incurred as a result of the cancellation.

    Full policy: Click here

  • Typhoon & Weather Policy

Your safety is our priority. We make a final weather check 24–48 hours before each retreat.

    • Heavy Rain Advisory: Retreat continues — no Future Credit

    • Heavy Rain Warning: Retreat may be canceled — Future Credit may be issued

    • Storm Warning (15–25 m/s): Retreat may be canceled — Future Credit may be issued

    • Special Warning (25 m/s+): Retreat canceled — Future Credit must be issued

Credits are valid for one year, fully transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. They are issued after the final safety check, not based on early forecasts.

We cannot cover accommodation, transport, or other personal expenses. Personal delays or cancellations (e.g., missed buses, car troubles) are not eligible.

    Thank you for understanding!

  • Children over the age of 10 may attend if they are able to sit through a short meditation and lecture quietly.

  • You can book the retreat for 1 up to 3 people.

  • I do offer overnight retreats, but at the moment they are available for returning customers only. Currently, I do not offer standalone cooking classes.

  • I do open on some Sundays, so please check this link for availability. Except for the Sundays listed there, our business is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and we cannot accept bookings on those days.

My husband teaches English online from Tuesday to Friday, so he may be able to offer walking tours on weekday afternoons but not in the mornings. Please contact us at okinawahealingkitchen@gmail.com for availability. We reply to inquiries Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM.

  • Unfortunately, no. My retreat is a truly one-of-a-kind, immersive experience, limited to one group per day and offered only once or twice a week. I dedicate my full attention to each guest throughout the retreat, which includes a welcome matcha ceremony, guided meditation, hands-on cooking experience, and a wellness talk or 1:1 health coaching session.

The entire space and schedule are reserved exclusively for you, creating a calm, personalized, and deeply meaningful experience. Every detail — from sourcing high-quality ingredients to preparing my retreat home, cleaning, and guiding you through the retreat — is crafted to give you an unforgettable experience.

As a fluent English speaker, certified Gut Health Coach, certified Japanese Medicinal Cooking & Fermented Foods Specialist, graduate of an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, and Okinawa Food & Safety Manager, I bring a wealth of knowledge, skill, and care to ensure your retreat is truly transformative.

Kind note: Just as you wouldn’t ask a hotel booking site for a discount, we kindly ask that you don’t negotiate pricing with us. As a small business, each retreat requires significant time, care, and attention, and we deeply value fairness and respect for the work that goes into crafting these experiences.

I designed the pricing structure so that the more people you bring to your private retreat, the lower the cost per person. If the solo or duo pricing isn’t the right fit, you’re welcome to post in local Facebook groups such as:

  • Unfortunately, no. To ensure the quality of my retreat, I prefer to keep the group small.
