Frequently Asked Questions

For Cooking Experience

Can I bring my child(ren)?

Unfortunately, children are not allowed at my cooking experience with Hiromi-san.
However, for my Private Mindful Eating & Cooking Retreat, children over the age of 10 may attend if they are able to sit through a short meditation and lecture quietly. Please contact me in advance to confirm suitability.

Do you offer vegan classes?

Some of my classes can be made vegan-friendly. Please check the class description to see if it mentions “vegan-friendly.”

Can I come just to observe the class?

I’m currently only accepting participants who actively join the cooking experience.
If you’d like to see what I do, please sign up and experience it firsthand! I’d love to welcome you into the kitchen.

Do you offer anything online?

I don’t offer live online classes at the moment, but I do have an on-demand course covering:

  • How to make Amazake (fermented rice milk)

  • How to make Shio-Koji (fermented salty rice seasoning)

Click here and learn more about my Amazake course!

I have allergies — can you accommodate them?

I can usually accommodate participants with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, and may be able to adjust for other allergies depending on the ingredients used in the class.

Each class is different, so please check the description carefully before signing up.

Important: Since we use a shared kitchen, those with allergies must attend at their own risk. I’ll separate ingredients and provide your own utensils, but Okinawa Healing Kitchen cannot be held responsible for any allergic reactions.

I can’t attend on the date listed — do you offer private experiences?

Yes! I offer Private Mindful Eating & Cooking Retreats upon request. Click a button below for more detai

For Retreat

Do you host classes for more than 5 people?

I limit the size to a maximum of 5 participants due to the kitchen setup and because I manage the retreat by myself. I do not accept requests for larger private groups.

However, I host a group cooking experience once every two months, which can accommodate up to 15 participants. If you are interested in joining a larger group, please sign up for the group cooking experience instead.

Can you come to my accommodation?

At this time, I am not offering private mini retreats at accommodations or other off-site locations.

Can you customize the menu for us? What’s your policy on allergies and intolerances?

I currently do not offer fully customized menus for my mini retreat.

However, I can remove or replace 1–2 ingredients depending on your dietary preferences or allergies, upon request. Please note that for some menus, it may not be possible to remove or replace certain ingredients.

If you have any allergies or intolerances, please consult with me in advance before booking.

Can I bring my child(ren) to the retreat?

Children aged 10 and up are welcome to join the mini retreat if they are able to sit through short lectures and a brief meditation session.

To keep things simple, the pricing is the same for both adults and children. Parents are responsible for supervising their children throughout the retreat to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know in advance.

Can I Book a retreat on Days Other Than Friday or Saturday?

Right now, my availability is open for most Fridays and Saturdays. While I may consider accepting requests outside of those days in the future, I'm currently only offering retreats on the available dates shown on the calendar. This helps me plan ingredient shopping in advance.
